Goro spent much of his career on the independent side of pro-wrestling in Japan, though a few stints in All Japan throughout the 1980's before going to SWS. Given he also spent some time in both Mexico, Canada, and Germany, he would get the nod to become a head trainer in SWS. Though the group would collapse and he would go on to be part of the "Wrestling Union" and form the IWA kakutoshijuku, Kokusai Pro-Wrestling, and the attempted revival of IWE in the mid-90's, International Wrestling Enterprise.
Goro would go on to train notable wrestlers like Sanshiro Takagi and Takashi Sasaki. Which both remain adamant about maintaining their indie roots, which their master embodied. Goro Turumi retired from pro-wrestling in August of 2013 with a joint show between DDT (Takagi) and FREEDOMS (Sasaki).
